Falling in Love with China tells the story of the author’s travels in China as a teacher in Jinggangshan University, Ji’an City, and Sichuan International Studies University, Chongqing. Although written in the third person, it is a nuanced and deeply engaging autobiographical account of a significant period in the author’s life.

At the heart of the narrative in an exploration of the friendships that the author made with students and colleagues while working in China: friendships that formed the basis of his rigorous but informal and imaginative teaching method.
