Day of Prayer for the
Catholic Church in China
In 2007, Pope Benedict XVI declared May 24 to be a Day of Prayer for the Church in China. It is the Memorial of Mary, Help of Christians, venerated at the Shrine of Sheshan in Shanghai. This year it falls on Sunday, the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. Therefore, on 24 May (Sunday) at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, the intercessions for the Church in China will be included at the online Masses at 9:30 am (English) and 11:00 am (Chinese). Cardinal John Tong will preside over the Chinese Mass.
May we show our concern and support, through prayers, for our brothers and sisters in Mainland China who are facing challenges in promoting evangelization and living Christian faith.
